
YOUTH HUNTER EDUCATION CHALLENGE
Supporting Skill Development & Safe Hunting Practices
Each October, the Youth Hunter Education Challenge Day is held at Platte River State Park. The event is open to Nebraska youth who have successfully completed a Hunter Education course.

The Big Game Conservation Association proudly supports this program by sponsoring all participant prizes.




ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The National Rifle Association’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) provides a dynamic, hands-on environment where youth participants (18 and under) can strengthen their:
• Hunting skills
• Marksmanship abilities
• Safety awareness
• Ethical decision-making

YHEC builds upon the foundation established in basic hunter education courses through simulated hunting scenarios, live-fire exercises, and educational challenges.
SKILLS & ACTIVITIES
Participants gain experience across multiple disciplines, including:
• Rifle shooting
• Archery
• Muzzleloader shooting
• Wildlife identification
• Map & compass navigation
• Orienteering challenges

Through realistic, field-based activities, students develop expertise in multiple methods of take while reinforcing responsible hunting practices.
