JOHN CONNELL
TREASUER
John Connell was born in Johnstown and grew up in Tupelo, where his parents still reside. Raised in west Tennessee, John developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors at an early age.
John’s passion for hunting and fishing was shaped by his father and grandfather, both active outdoorsmen who instilled in him the importance of ethics, responsibility, and respect for wildlife. As a teenager, John expanded his outdoor skills by teaching himself to trap beaver, muskrat, and mink.
Beyond hunting and trapping, John has always enjoyed outdoor activities such as backpacking and camping. During his high school years, he worked with the Youth Conservation Corps, contributing to projects along the Natchez Trace Parkway, where he helped build trails and support conservation efforts involving plant life, wildlife, and historical preservation.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & NEBRASKA ROOTS
After attending both the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Mississippi, John began a career in retail management. He now brings over 25 years of leadership and operational experience to the Association.
John has lived in the Omaha Metro Area since 2001, where he met his wife, DeAnna.
